Team INFINIT Cyclist, Rachel Langdon, takes on the 2019 Colorado Classic — the first all female stage race in the US — Pushing the limits of women in cycling
Rachel Langdon, pro cyclist and member of Team INFINIT, has powered through the 2019 race season and set a high standard in the world of cycling.
Challenging herself with multiple day stage races this season, Rachel took first place in the Whiskey City Twilight Challenge and placed in the top 10 each day of the 11-day Tour of America’s Dairylands stage race.
Originally from across the pond in Stockton, England, Rachel landed in the U.S. for college with a soccer scholarship. During her collegiate career she double majored in Psychology and Sociology all while playing soccer for the Murrary State Racers, guiding the team to two conference titles. Rachel then moved to Louisville, Kentrucky to attend the University of Louisville to pursue her graduate degree in sports administration.
With a solid endurance foundation from her years of soccer training, Rachel began racing after graduating from college in 2013. She started as a triathlete, first training for the 2014 Ironman Louisville. Rachel qualified for Ironman 70.3 Worlds in just her 2nd year of racing triathlon, before realizing that her passion was really in cycling.
“I found a passion for cycling and loved the adventure and freedom being on the bike allowed.”
Rachel ditched her running shoes and wet suit, and started competing in cyclocross. Moving quickly from CAT 4 to CAT 2 in her first year of racing.
Fast forward to 2019, Rachel now focuses on road races, taking on CRIT and Stage races across the U.S. Some of her favorite races are the Tulsa Tough, Redlands Cycling Classic, and Barry-Roubaix Gravel Road Race.
Outside of training and racing, Rachel works remotely doing online marketing and sales. She loves to travel, hike, and hang with her pup Weller.
Long-time member of Team INFINIT, Rachel has been using INFINIT Nutrition as her sole nutrition strategy for almost eight years, and in that time she has dialed in her unique Custom Formulas to perfection.
“It works for whatever you need it for. I have done triathlons, Ironmans, endurance bike races, criteriums and cyclocross. No matter the distance, the weather, INFINIT is the only nutrition that is easy to use, doesn’t give me GI distress and WORKS!”
What’s Rachel’s next move?
Rachel now has her sights set on the Colorado Classic, the only women’s standalone pro road race in the Western Hemisphere, where she was invited to race as a guest rider with Fearless Femme Racing. Starting in Steamboat Springs and finishing in downtown Denver, this prestigious race is guaranteed to be an unforgettable event.
"By becoming the first women's only UCI stage race in the US, the Colorado Classic is a monumental event on the women's cycling calendar. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to compete in such a gorgeous location, against an international, high class field. The stages will be tough and will make for some brilliant racing."
The Colorado Classic is a movement to empower women of all ages. The development of this race comes at an evolutionary time. Compared to men, women have been limited when it comes to endurance cycling events. Since 1989, women have been banned from competing in the Tour de France. The Tour de France is one of the most prestigious cycling events for men, and still today an equivalent for women does not exist.
The Colorado Classic is advancing the limits of womens cycling by offering longer, harder races. Team INFINIT is excited to see Rachel defy the limits in this ground-breaking event. Catch the Colorado Classic’s live streaming as they broadcast women’s racing on the global stage.
Rachel will be using her INFINIT Nutrition Custom Blend for the Colorado Classic. INFINIT’s custom blends are an athlete's all-in-one approach to nutrition. We specifically dial in the blends to match each athletes needs. No need for any bars, gels, salt tables, and electrolyte drinks. Just drink you mixture and go!
Check out Rachel’s Community Shared Custom Blends. Rachel will be sticking with her Road Race Blend for the Colorado Classic.
